[Wreck-It Ralph gets up to another daily routine he's settled into, living on the first floor of Community House 7. He makes sure the kid's awake and okay, then he heads over to the community kitchen to down an entire gallon of milk. And eventually, he manages to split off from Vanellope long enough to find somewhere quiet to address the journals.

He'd been avoiding using the journals too much since he arrived. After all, anyone could recognize him as the bad guy or have sore feelings from the wreckage he caused when he first arrived here in Luceti. But he'd have to face them sooner or later, with that whole Christmas thing coming up. First, there was that Secret Santa thing to worry about. He was assigned someone named "Harry Dresden". And he had no idea who that was. And secondly? There was something he needed to do for the kid for Christmas, too. He'd need all the help he could with that one.

But first? He'd have to face the music. And that meant showing his face on the journals.]

Uh, hey... everybody. All you... Luceti guys. A lot of you may recognize me from that, uh, wrecking I did a few weeks back. Or you might recognize me from that video game, Fix-It Felix Junior. [A small frown; he hasn't met anyone familiar with the game yet here.] Either way, I wanna apologize for, y'know... getting off on the wrong foot with you all. I was in kind of a dark place, and really confused... but long story short, I'm feeling a lot better now! Things are going really good. You don't have to worry about me wrecking things and being "the bad guy" anymore. [He says that complete with finger quotes.] Unless you need one, in which case I guess I could try fitting it into my schedule? My name's Ralph by the way. Wreck-It Ralph. [A pause. He tries waving with one of his giant hands, but his brow furrows with confusion.] Do any of you know my game?

I got two unrelated questions for you guys. Now, this doesn't have anything to do with Christmas or anything. But... first of all, is there anyone here who's an expect at this Battle Dome stuff? I need someone who can help me put together a really, super specific simulation for - uh, for a thing. If you know a lot about go-karts, that's a plus.

Oh! And my second question. Who the heck's Harry Dresden?

And a lot of people here don't have family. Some of them are my family now. Other ones, it's just...I got to know them and stuff! [ She shrugs. ] Family's what you make of it, you know?

I guess. Sounds too complicated to decide, though. Just having friends sounds a lot simpler.

I'm gonna tell Vanellope on you! [ Not about the surprise. BUT AT BEING CALLED ANNOYING. ]

Oh, I have a lot of friends, too, though. You should join Art Club, speaking of that!

Yeah? Go ahead and tell her, see how I care! You can be sisters and call yourselves, I dunno, the annoying sisters or something. [But then, quickly.] Just, uh... Don't mention this whole ractrack thing, okay?

Art Club? What the heck would I wanna do with an art club, anyway?

Duh! I won't spoil a present for her!

Because you could meet people! I'm pretty sure Vanellope is going to our next meeting. Oh, and I don't know Harry Dresden myself, but I think Uncle Luke knows him.

You better not, pintsize. I mean... not that it's a present or anything.

The kid is? Bah, I know enough people already. What, I should ask this Uncle Luke guy about him?

...fine. An hour.

Sure. No rush, man.

[Loki simply shuts the journal and finds something else to do with himself for nearly an hour before he heads over to the Battle Dome.]

Uh... he might if he could play them. Things with complex electronics tend not to last too long around Harry.

I can help you with the Battle Dome, Ralph! [NO SHE CAN'T.] I mean, I've never used it...but how hard can it be?

Just one question...what's a go-kart?

A go-kart, it's... like an obnoxiously tiny car that anyone can drive.

But you sure this is okay, Goldie? I don't want you spreading snot all over me and the controls.

[He saunters over to the Dome about ten minutes after the hour and looks around for Loki.]

Sheesh. What, does he smash them when he loses? [THERE ARE LIVING BEINGS IN THOSE]

[An ill-timed sniffle.] Of course! I'm feeling fit as a fiddle...besides, if I want to get all-the-way better, I've got to get out some!

[He sighs. These kids are too hard to argue with.]

Fine, kid. Don't say I didn't warn you. I'll be in the hall in like a minute.

[Oh goodness, SOMEWHERE TO GO. She is ecstatic.]

Wonderful! See you out there.

[And a moment later, she will be in the hall herself, decked out in some mighty snow wear. What? She doesn't want her cold to get worse.]

[He's about to leave the room when he has some second thoughts. He grabs a box of tissues as well as some of the many cookies scattered around. Then he heads out into the hall and waves at her.]

Hey there, Goldie. Guess you can walk at least.

And your name's Ralph, right? Okay, I'm going to keep that one in mind.

[She's never... thought of that before. Though she vaguely remembers hearing the world some of her friends from back home came from was slightly different, and even had a Sailor V video game like that.]

Amazing. But... does that mean you play the game on your own? What the player does doesn't matter?

Yeah, that's the name. Wreck-It Ralph. Why, you... think you'll need a bad guy?

Not exactly. The player matters. Basically, when the player is in control, it's like we're all doing our jobs. We follow our programs - the playable character follows the controls, the bad guys attack and the non-playable characters do their lines. And once the players are gone? That's free time for ourselves. We can do what we want and even visit other games, at least 'til it's time for the arcade to re-open.

It sounds a little like being an actor.

[She never thought about a video game that way before. The characters are just... programs, aren't they? Lines of code. But in a world where the Malnosso believe they have the right to treat everyone here as their toys and puppets, she doesn't make the mistake of looking down on 'programs'.]

Actually, it sounds exciting. I wish I could try it just for a little while.

Wreck-It Ralph? Ehhh... Isn't that an arcade game? I could never afford to go to arcades myself, but the name sounds vaguely familiar.

[She gasps, and brings her hands to her lips.]
