[Wreck-It Ralph gets up to another daily routine he's settled into, living on the first floor of Community House 7. He makes sure the kid's awake and okay, then he heads over to the community kitchen to down an entire gallon of milk. And eventually, he manages to split off from Vanellope long enough to find somewhere quiet to address the journals.

He'd been avoiding using the journals too much since he arrived. After all, anyone could recognize him as the bad guy or have sore feelings from the wreckage he caused when he first arrived here in Luceti. But he'd have to face them sooner or later, with that whole Christmas thing coming up. First, there was that Secret Santa thing to worry about. He was assigned someone named "Harry Dresden". And he had no idea who that was. And secondly? There was something he needed to do for the kid for Christmas, too. He'd need all the help he could with that one.

But first? He'd have to face the music. And that meant showing his face on the journals.]

Uh, hey... everybody. All you... Luceti guys. A lot of you may recognize me from that, uh, wrecking I did a few weeks back. Or you might recognize me from that video game, Fix-It Felix Junior. [A small frown; he hasn't met anyone familiar with the game yet here.] Either way, I wanna apologize for, y'know... getting off on the wrong foot with you all. I was in kind of a dark place, and really confused... but long story short, I'm feeling a lot better now! Things are going really good. You don't have to worry about me wrecking things and being "the bad guy" anymore. [He says that complete with finger quotes.] Unless you need one, in which case I guess I could try fitting it into my schedule? My name's Ralph by the way. Wreck-It Ralph. [A pause. He tries waving with one of his giant hands, but his brow furrows with confusion.] Do any of you know my game?

I got two unrelated questions for you guys. Now, this doesn't have anything to do with Christmas or anything. But... first of all, is there anyone here who's an expect at this Battle Dome stuff? I need someone who can help me put together a really, super specific simulation for - uh, for a thing. If you know a lot about go-karts, that's a plus.

Oh! And my second question. Who the heck's Harry Dresden?

I'm not an expert, but I've taken computer classes at cram school when I was younger, and I've kept it up as a hobby on my own.

[Real translation: Yes. Let's do this.]

Let's start, then. How familiar are you with the system here already?

Well, that's more experience than me. I'm not so familiar at all. I took a look at the controls but never really tried to... make something. That dude who showed it to me, Obi, he had something already set up that he just... booted up.

So you know how to load a program once it's completed. Good. Let's start with the game specifics, then. You said a racing game. What does it need to have included?

Okay. It's like a game with little carts that... kid-sized characters can ride. Really simple karts, only three floor buttons. The complicated part? Well, the karts and... the entire landscape? They all gotta be made of junk food.

That won't be a problem. It's just a question of the graphics. How about...

[There's a vague, general Candyland backdrop that she calls up as a starting point.] this? We can work from here to begin with.

[He points with subdued excitement.]

Yeah, yeah, that's good! That kinda looks like it. [He then scratches his head as he tries to remember more details worth mentioning.]

[There are notable differences, of course; but they can refine it if that matters too much. Ami's smile broadens as she catches Ralph's enthusiasm.]

This is sort of exciting to do. Let's see... the cars should be the same. We just need recolors on top of normal racing-game cars.

Whatever works, wiz kid. Most of 'em look kinda... gingerbready. With cookie wheels and all, usually covered with some kinda candy and frostings. But- oh right! There's one kart that has to look very specific.

[He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a very crumbled sheet of paper where he's drawn this from memory. It's very sloppy, but just clear enough to make out most of the different parts. Plus there are little helpful notes and arrows. He clearly remembered what it looked like in great detail. And he holds the note out to Ami.]

[It's a mess, like someone let their young daughter do the decorating 'all by herself'. But there's no trace of mockery in Ami's smile. Instead, it's fond.]

It looks perfect. It must be important to you. [Or... a daughter? A friend?]

["I love it".]

It's junk. But... there's a kid it means the world to. That's all. [And it is really important to him, too.] Not that I care that much or anything.

[Ralph, that is something you should care about very much. So it's good Ami doesn't quite buy that line. Not when Ralph's going to so much trouble to make this perfect for 'that kid'.]

We'll make sure it's everything your friend will hope for.

[He hesitates for a moment before answering with a genuine smile.]

[Her answer comes a lot more easily.] You're welcome. I think it will be fun to work on anyway.

[She works deftly, using some of the stock graphics to overlay the regular cars. Before long, it's definitely a car made of sweets, just lacking the decorations so far.]

Is this alright so far? I'd like to make any changes now, before I add the last touches.

I wonder if cotton candy would work as snow...

Uh... hm. That's a good start, yeah. And... cotton candy snow? I never thought of that. The snow in the game... what was the snow there? Think it was more ice cream-ish... but cotton candy could be a nice touch, too...

Ice cream is fine, too! [After all, she wants to match Ralph's vision. Better tell her about the peppermint trees and double-stripes.] It might be sticky, but that could become an interesting obstacle.

Yeah, sure, plus kids love that junk. And oh man, what else was there? There's whole pools of gross icing and... these kinda weird peppermint tree things...

Peppermint trees shouldn't be too difficult, either. [Just red and white stripes. She changes a few lines in the simulation setup, and a few nearby trees turn to passable representations of peppermint.] There!

Yeah, that looks great! And... [Blink] Oh right! Don't forget... double stripes break!

They break? What breaks them? [She imagines, at first, that they break randomly, or perhaps set on a timer. If she set a line here to check the previous one, she could...]

Pretty much anything! One second they're there, then one touch, and... pew! Gone. [He recalls sourly.]

[Oh. That's different, and a bit more complicated. But if she looks over this part here... and redoes this value... and adjusts that section...]

I think I can do that, too. [And here, she can't help a small smile.] I take it you had some experience with them breaking.

[He gives a nostalgic smile, but huffs and rolls his eyes at the comment.]

That's - it's none of your business!

[Oops. She hadn't really meant to embarrass him.]

Sorry. I just thought... it isn't that bad. But then, are you sure you want them to still break here?

Y-yeah. It's gotta be genuine, okay?

[Right. She can make it genuine. Especially if it's to help someone cope with being far away from these familiar things.]

I'll make sure every detail is just as you tell me, the most I can.

[Don't get near the double-stripes again, Ralph. As of a few more keystrokes, they're breakable.]
